Ron Herman

Retailer Ron Herman and his flagship store at 8100 Melrose Ave. were early pioneers of the oft co-opted "denim bar" concept of retailing: stocking a mind-boggling number of brands floor to ceiling and separating them from the customer by a wooden counter to create a sort of sartorial saloon atmosphere.

This merchandising technique, which treats denim with the same sort of retail reverence reserved for expensive jewelry (and seemingly justifies the higher price tag), is now commonplace around the globe.
